Home to the Guji Oromo people, the wider Hambella Guji area is produces some of the most well-known coffee-growing sub-localities. In the West Guji zone, Buku produces some of the most popular and sought-after cherries by far.

The anaerobic natural processed version of the Hambella results in a vibrant, tangy berry flavour profile with a nice syrupy mouthfeel. The Hambella AX has a rich complexity of mixed berries that ends with a red wine finish.

- FRESHNESS
All coffee is shipped between 1 to 14 days after roasting. While freshness is often ideal, coffee actually benefits from a resting period. For the best flavour, we recommend letting your beans rest for at least 14 days post-roast. This allows time for proper degassing, resulting in more even extraction, a smoother, more balanced cup, and the full expression of the coffee’s flavour potential.

- GRINDING
We always recommend grinding your beans fresh before brewing for the best flavour and aroma. But if you prefer, we’re happy to grind them for you — just select your grind size when you place your order.

With every coffee subscription, you'll receive 1 or 2 bags of freshly roasted coffee beans — available in 150g, 350g, or 1kg sizes — depending on your choice. You can opt for deliveries every 2 weeks or every 4 weeks.

This is a recurring order with no binding period — you're free to edit, pause, or cancel your subscription anytime based on your coffee consumption needs.

Stay stocked up and in control, always.

Lulo Coffee

We were introduced to the smallholder that produced this distinctive coffee through our direct trade partner, Lulo Coffee. A vertically integrated Ethiopian coffee producer, they pride themselves on working directly with farmers to create an efficient value chain that also builds direct relationships between farmers and roasters.

IMPACT

Lulo’s business is predicated upon the Lulo Promise – a heartfelt pledge to pass on most of the income – up to 88% – to farmers, and to assist smallholders with larger than average farm sizes to directly become farmer-exporters. Through the Lulo Promise, they have helped identify promising single farmers with a minimum holding of two hectares and worked ceaselessly with them to produce high quality, truly traceable single farm micro-lots, while matching them with appropriate markets globally. In essence, this arrangement ensures absolute transparency in price, quality, and traceability, both to the farmer and the buyer.
