La Estrella is a regional blend created from the harvests of 126 producers across the department of Nueva Segovia, located about 225 kilometres from Nicaragua’s capital, Managua. This mountainous region sits close to the Honduran border and forms part of the Cordillera de Dipilito Nature Reserve, an area celebrated for its rich biodiversity and ideal conditions for growing high quality Arabica.
The blend takes its name from Beneficio La Estrella, the mill established in the municipality of Ocotal, where coffees from surrounding communities are brought together and processed. Since 2015, producers living near the mill have contributed their lots to form a consistent and expressive regional profile.
La Estrella is made possible through the dedication of both new growers and long-standing partners from municipalities such as Macuelizo, Dipilto, San Fernando, Mozonte and Jalapa. Each contributes to a cup that is smooth, approachable and characteristically northern Nicaraguan.
Expect subtle, gentle acidity with flavours of hazelnut and dark chocolate and a clean, comforting finish.
To reduce waste, orders will be packed using our previously used coffee bags as part of our upcycling initiative.
